Use an allowance in Claude Code

Before you start

1. Install Claude Code using the official instructions.
2. Accept your invitation and copy the token. It is shown only once. If you lose it, open the allowance in Allowances and replace the token.

Start using your allowance

The token’s page gives these lines with your token and your allowance’s model filled in. Paste them in a terminal; to start again later, paste them again.

ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL

Sends Claude Code’s requests to Tokens On Me instead of Anthropic.

ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN

Your token, in place of an API key.

CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_EXPERIMENTAL_BETAS

Turns off Claude Code’s pre-release features, which this service does not pass on.

CLAUDE_CODE_MAX_OUTPUT_TOKENS

The longest answer a request may ask for. Each request sets money aside for an answer that long, then gives back what was not used: a higher number sets more aside.

claude --model

Starts Claude Code on a model your allowance includes.

Anyone with your token can spend your allowance. Keep it out of shared files and version control. If it leaks, replace it from the allowance’s page to stop the old token immediately.

If a model is refused

Claude Code sometimes asks for another model for small tasks. If the allowance does not include it, that request is refused. Pin each of Claude Code’s model names to one the allowance includes, in the same terminal, then start it again:

Check your balance

Open your allowance in Allowances to see its balance or check your token without spending any of the budget. Requests stop when the available balance cannot cover the reservation for another request.
