Connect an Anthropic API key

Allowances on Claude can spend from an Anthropic API key. Use a dedicated workspace and API key for Tokens On Me. You can set a spending limit and revoke access without affecting your other projects.

Make a workspace with a spend limit

  1. In the Claude Console, open Workspaces and choose Create workspace. You need organization admin access.
  2. Name it so you know what it is for, such as "Tokens On Me", and create it.
  3. Select it, then Spend limits: set a monthly limit, and an alert below it.

Anthropic does not allow a limit on the Default Workspace: that is why the key gets a workspace of its own.

Create the key

  1. Open API keys and create a key in the workspace you just made.
  2. Copy it: it starts with sk-ant-api, and the Console shows it once.

A Claude subscription login (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) is not an API key: Anthropic’s terms do not allow it to be used this way, and the Keys screen refuses it.

Connect it

  1. Sign in, open Keys, paste the key under Anthropic and save it.
  2. Give an allowance from Allowances.

We store the key encrypted and never display it again. Recipients never see it.

Stop access

Delete or disable the key in the Console: Anthropic refuses every request made with it from then on. Disconnecting it on the Keys screen also stops new requests through this service.
